Origin Of Arbiter Sports

Advanced Business Technology

In 1984, Advanced Business Technology (ABT) was hired by the Utah High School Activities Association at their request to develop a computer-based system for the assignment of sports officials and the management of their assignments.

ABT’s system was called “The Arbiter” and was initially released on MS-DOS. In 1997, it was released for Microsoft Windows. Finally, in 2003, Arbiter was made available as a web-based application called “thearbiter.” ABT.NET was founded in 1984 by David Yeast, who served as the NCAA’s Vice President of Baseball Umpire Education.

In 2020 Arbiter Sports had to go through a data breach and was accused and charged with a class lawsuit. Since the court did not favor anyone in the lawsuit, both parties made a settlement within themselves for 26 million dollars in 2021.
